Bydgoszcz is actively implementing modern energy management systems in municipal facilities, including animal shelters. The use of renewable energy sources and adherence to the highest ecological and functional standards are crucial for improving living conditions for animals. The Animal Shelter in Bydgoszcz is an excellent example of an investment that successfully combines modernity with environmental care, creating a safe and comfortable place for homeless animals.
In 2018, the city signed an agreement for EU funding to implement renewable energy installations at the Animal Shelter in Bydgoszcz. The main goal was to improve the efficiency of the heating system and reduce the need to purchase electricity by using renewable energy sources.
At the shelter located at 298 Grunwaldzka Street, modern technologies were implemented, including a 21 kW photovoltaic installation and an air-source heat pump system. Thanks to these solutions, the shelter has become completely self-sufficient in terms of electricity demand, and the heat pumps powered by photovoltaic energy meet up to 85% of the heating needs.
Benefits:
- energy independence and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
- reduction of energy costs
- education and raising ecological awareness
